2010 SAMS TEACHER OF THE YEAR
Congratulations to Betsy Hammond!
My basic philosophy of teaching is that I teach students, not simply a curriculum. I accept the diversities of students, and then I utilize these diversities in planning academics, as well as discipline both in and out of the classroom. In my relationships with students, fellow teachers, and administrators, I make myself an example. Students learn best by seeing and doing. My behavior and my lessons are planned to enable students to see a concept, demonstrate the concept, and connect the concept to the real world. My teaching style incorporates hearing and reading with the listening and doing, always within an atmosphere of respect and discipline. Outstanding teachers are those who earn the respect of students, parents, fellow teachers, and administrators. This respect is earned through maintaining positive relationships, coaching students to become self-disciplined, and approaching each day with the realization that teaching is not done until learning is achieved.

Ms. Grant presents a bouquet and congratulations to Ms. Hammond, SAMS 2010-2011 Teacher of the Year.
