SCIENCE FAIR

Who will be the SAMS science fair winners? There will be many fabulous projects to choose from this year!

 Welcome to 6th grade science

where we learn to ask and answer questions about the world around us

and learn how and why things change!

Welcome back! Our current topic is Earth - how it has changed over time, and how the processes that make Earth unique allow it to recycle matter. Along the way we will learn the scientific method, how technology changes the way we do things, how scientists work to understand the natural world and how they lead the way in change.

Students in Ms. Landis' science class are using Edmodo.com to communicate with each other and with their teacher in order to learn and complete assignments. In addition to science, students are learning about various web 2.0 softwares, internet etiquette, online discussion, playing to learn, use of a rubric to complete assignments, peer feedback, and collaboration.

*Parents and guardians - Get YOUR EDMODO code, and can take a look at what your student is doing online! Edmodo can be accessed from school, home, the library, or anywhere else that has a computer with internet access.

 SCIENCE

A note to my students, past, present, and future:

Remember, you are always a scientist. You've been experimenting with the world in which you live most of your life. Any time you wonder about something you notice, use what you already know to try and answer your own question, and then make up a way to prove yourself right or wrong, you are practicing science. When you gather your evidence and tell your family, friends, or neighbors about it, you are sharing your work with the world. You ARE a scientist.
